NWI Forum, NIRPC host technology session

The Northwest Indiana Forum and Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission will host "Technology Districts: Bringing High-Tech to NWI" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the NWI Forum, 6100 Southport Road.

The lunch and learn session features Jim Jay, President and CEO of TechPoint, Indiana's leading and statewide technology initiative.

Jay will share information on the needs of high technology advanced manufacturing businesses and success stories from central Indiana. TechPoint's mission is to promote the growth of technology-based enterprise that create high-wage jobs and high-margin businesses across the state of Indiana. Vince Galbiati, President and CEO of the Forum will share the regional approach to attracting these next generation industries.

Elected officials, economic development professionals and business leaders wanting to be a part of this regional initiative are encouraged to attend this presentation. Seating is limited and box lunches will be provided.

MUNSTER

Local businesses sought for Jan. 10 fair

Area businesses, home businesses, start-up companies, regional & national organizations, and others are sought for the Munster Parks and Recreation Business/Consumer Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 10 at Munster High School, 8808 Columbia Ave.

Businesses will be able to showcase their products and services to the region and consumers will be able to discover existing and new products and services in our local area and beyond. The fee is $75 per 8-foot-by-8-foot booth space.

Applications may be submitted to the Munster Parks and Recreation Office, 1005 Ridge Road. Applications will be accepted until the fair is filled.

HIGHLAND

Business license enrollment period begins Jan. 1

The Highland Clerk-Treasurer's office announces that the business license enrollment period for 2009 is coming soon. All business licenses expire end on Dec. 31.

The new enrollment begins on Jan. 1 and ends Feb. 28. The fee before the deadline is $25; after the deadline, the fee is $50.

Applications can be found at http://www.highland.in.gov or at the Highland Town Hall, 3333 Ridge Road. Call (219) 838-1080 for more information.
