INDIANAPOLIS | Millions of moviegoers in China soon may be munching on Indiana popcorn.
In Beijing on Tuesday, Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman presided over the signing of a strategic partnership between Van Buren-based Weaver Popcorn and Stellar Cinema Group.
"This is great news for Weaver, which already has a booming international business," Skillman said. "Strengthening our relationships with China does indeed result in good news for Hoosier companies."
Stellar held the signing ceremony at the opening of its 100th movie screen in China.
Chinese film stars and directors, along with Skillman and other members of Indiana's agricultural delegation to China, were "guests of honor" at the opening.
Skillman's 10-day trip to China with Indiana agricultural leaders is intended to improve relations between Indiana and the world's most populous nation.
China is currently the fourth-largest importer of Indiana agricultural products behind Canada, Mexico and Japan.
