Forum supports Illiana Expressway
The Northwest Indiana Forum, representing 120 companies and organizations in the region, has announced it supports a study of the proposed Illiana Expressway.
The Forum cited the essential nature of improved transportation in creating jobs, attracting industry, enhancing productivity and keeping up with global competitiveness in endorsing the study.
The Forum has endorsed the study in a previous joint resolution with the Northwestern Indiana Regional Planning Commission. But this is its first individual call for support.
The Forum's 120 members create $40 billion of annual commerce in Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties, according to the Forum. Its membership roll includes some of the region's largest companies, including Mittal Steel USA, U.S. Steel Corp., Northern Indiana Public Service Co., and BP Oil Co.
