Teresa Pedroza has been appointed as Patient Advocate/Volunteer Coordinator at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. She will have job responsibilities at St. Mary Medical Center and St. Catherine Hospital. Dr. Jay Platt, of Munster, was awarded fellowship in the American College of Dentists during its annual meeting and convention. Fellowship in the college is by invitation and based on demonstrated leadership and contributions to the dental profession and society. Platt practices oral and maxillofacial surgery in Schererville.
Tammy Berwick has joined Prompt Ambulance Service in Highland as training Director. In her new position, Berwick will be responsible for all aspects of training, including locating instructors, scheduling, set-up, and promotion. She will also serve as Prompt's liaison with the American Red Cross in Merrillville and St. Anthony's EMS Academy in Crown Point. SB Tucker is the winner of the February 2007 (Recognizing Exemplary Service, Character, Unity, Excellence) Award at Prompt.
Ivy Tech adjunct professor Arthur E. Lax earned his Indiana Funeral Director's license on Sept. 7 in Indianapolis. Arthur is the MOR 206 Embalming Theory instructor at Ivy Tech's East Chicago campus since the program's inception in 2003. He, along with his wife Ann, own and operate Lax Mortuary in Kankakee.
