USI names presidential finalists

There are three finalists in the search for the next president of the University of Southern Indiana. USI Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Linda Bennett, USI Vice President for Student Affairs Robert Parrent and Timothy Todd dean of the College of Business and Public Affairs at Murray State University are still in the running for the job. Current President Ray Hoops is retiring at the end of June.

Fort Wayne seeks help With ice cleanup

The City of Fort Wayne is turning to the private sector to help clean up following last month's severe ice storm. Mayor Tom Henry said city departments will contract with private services for about six weeks to speed-up the process of collecting fallen tree limbs. The plan could cost between $300,000 and $500,000. He says the additional help should allow most neighborhoods to be cleaned up by the end of March.

Purdue president optimistic about funding

Purdue University President France Cordova is hopeful funding can be secured during the current legislative session for the proposed Indiana Innovation Alliance. She admits the state needs to manage its funds wisely, especially in a tough economy, but she said securing funding for the initiative would signify Indiana's plans to emerge from this "economic crisis stronger than ever." Cordova made the comments to Inside INdiana Business just before touching on the initiative during a speech to members of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce.

Indiana home builders want economic stimulus

The Indiana Builders Association is calling on Congress to take action to prompt an economic and housing recovery. The organization will outline its plan and discuss the state of the Indiana housing market this afternoon. Association President Dennis Spidel is planning to unveil elements Congress should include in a stimulus package that could help the housing industry.
