The University of Evansville will welcome former Economic Advisor to President George W. Bush Allan Hubbard to campus Thursday. He will talk about the economy, its role in the world market and his time advising the Bush administration. Hubbard served as assistant to the President for Economic Policy and Director of the National Economic Council from January 2005 until December 2007.
Report on education levels of Indiana's work force to be unveiled
Representatives from Ivy Tech Community College, Indiana Department of Workforce Development and the Indiana Chamber of Commerce will meet with business leaders Thursday morning to discuss education levels of Indiana's workforce. The chamber recently published the Adult Education and Workforce Skills Performance Report. The research identifies the education levels of the current workforce. The report also highlights the number of working-age adults in Indiana who have not completed high school, speak little or no English and are in families that earn less than a living wage.
Indiana insurers see "medical tourism" as growing trend
Indianapolis-based WellPoint Inc. (NYSE: ALP) has launched a new international medical tourism pilot program allowing members to access benefits for common procedures in India. Starting in January, patients will be able to receive non-emergency procedures, including major joint replacement and upper and lower back fusion at lower out-of-pocket costs. Carmel-based Seven Corners has announced what it calls the first worldwide medical tourism insurance program. Seven Corners says it reduces travel-related and medical risks associated with patients deciding to have surgical procedures outside the U.S.
