Deadline to register to vote at BMV is Saturday
Although the deadline to register to vote in Indiana in the Nov. 4 general election is Monday, Oct. 6, the last day to register to vote at a license branch is Saturday.
License branches are closed on Sundays and Mondays, with hours on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Signs are in place at license branches reminding Hoosiers of the voter registration deadline and of the hours license branches will be open.
Residents can also register to vote at their county voter registration office, county clerk's office or any public assistance office. Voter registration forms are available at www.indianavoters.com, license branches, public libraries, local school corporations with public secondary schools or local government offices. Any mailed-in voter registration form must be postmarked by Oct. 6.

Prairie State job fair set for Oct. 22
Prairie State College's Career Development Services invites local businesses and organizations to participate in a job fair from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 22 in the atrium of the college's main campus, 202 S. Halsted St., Chicago Heights.
Registration is $75 per company. Each addition representative attending the fair will be charged $25.
The job fair is free and open to the public.

HAMMOND
City, chamber sponsor ID theft seminar
The city of Hammond and the Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring, "Identity Theft, Yes It Can Happen To You ...," presented by Jacqueline A. Kennedy, Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Jean Shepherd Community Center, 3031 Mahoney Drive.
Those attending will be given a certificate, which can be redeemed for shredding at a later date at the Hammond Recycling Department. Do not bring materials to be shredded to the seminar.
Registration begins at 5 p.m. Seating is limited. RSVP if possible at (219) 931-1000, but walk-ins are welcome
