Global collaboration spotlighted in forum event today
The Northwest Indiana Forum is hosting metropolitan regional development guru, Michael Gallis, beginning at 4:30 p.m. today at the Clark Building at the AmeriPlex at the Port complex.

According to Forum President and CEO, Vince Galbiati, "Understanding the relationship among the systems of the region, how its parts fit together and how we can position Northwest Indiana in the global marketplace is why we have invited Michael Gallis back to Northwest Indiana."
Gallis has pioneered a specialty in building frameworks through which public, private and institutional leaders can create globally effective regions. Gallis also has been part of a State Department-sponsored technical assistance team sent to Poland to give advice on major metropolitan development.

Starting a business target of Tuesday seminar
The steps of starting a business will be the focus of a seminar hosted by Purdue University Calumet's Entrepreneurship Center on campus tonight.
The seminar, "What Is My First Step?," is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the university's Calumet Conference Center. It is designed to acquaint prospective business owners with basic considerations when starting a business.
Business experts are scheduled to discuss the process of conducting a business feasibility study, writing and having a business plan, marketing strategies, financial planning, legal planning, and business operations/human resources. A question/answer session is set to follow.

Bank presentation focus on surviving economic climate
A First Midwest Bank seminar scheduled in Hammond Wednesday is set to highlight solutions for tough economic times.
The seminar, to be held at 6 p.m. at 5231 Hohman Ave., will highlight CD laddering strategies, reverse mortgage options and an exclusive college savings program known as Tuition Rewards, organizers of the event said.

The seminar is scheduled to be repeated Sept. 10 in Schererville at 1806 Robin Hood Blvd.
