A Purdue University retail expert believes sales of gift cards this holiday season could reach between $35 and $40 billion. Purdue Retail Institute Researcher Richard Feinberg is anticipating a significant increase in cards for grocery stores, gas stations and superstores such as Wal-mart and Costco because of the economy. He says the institute's research indicates most cards are redeemed after Christmas and New Year's, which means the cards can't be included in retail holiday sales figures. Feinberg will appear on Inside INdiana Business Television this week.

Crews will convert the Frank Borman Expressway from six to 10 lanes between State Road 53 (Broadway) and Central Avenue. The state says Walsh Construction of Chicago submitted a low bid of $97 million for the project.
