CROWN POINT

Chamber meeting to focus on planning issues

Steve Nigro, planning and building administrator with the City of Crown Point, will be the guest speaker at the Crown Point Chamber of Commerce's monthly Business Development Committee meeting at 7:30 a.m. March 5 at Schoops Restaurant, 1124 N. Main St.

Nigro will provide an update on planning and building issues in the city. All members of the business community are invited to attend.

HAMMOND

SBCD offers business feasibility workshop

The Northwest Indiana Small Business Development Center and the Hammond INnovation Center is offering a business feasibility workshop from 6 to 8 p.m. March 9 at the Hammond INnovation Center, 5209 Hohman Ave.

The workshop is designed to help would-be entrepreneurs determine their preparedness and ability to start a business.

Cost is $25 per person and seating is limited. Call (219) 644-3513 to register.

Cancer center receives accreditation

South Suburban Cancer Center, 17750 South Kedzie Ave., was recently granted re-accreditation by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The center has been accredited by the AAAHC since October 1998 and the re-accreditation distinguishes the center from many other outpatient radiation oncology facilities by providing a safe work environment and the highest quality of care to patients.

Status as an accredited organization means South Suburban Cancer Center has met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care. More than 3,600 ambulatory health care organizations across the United States are accredited by AAAHC.
