Attorney General warns of phony text messages
Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller is issuing a consumer alert about phony text messages, claiming to come from Finance Center Federal Credit Union (FCU).
The attorney generals office has received complaints about the messages, which falsely notify consumers that their account is experiencing unusual activity and/or has a deactivated card. They instruct recipients to call a telephone number to provide personal and/or card information.
If you have received any message, purportedly from Finance Center FCU, do not respond, advised Zoeller. Its is a scam designed to steal your personal information.
Consumers should report suspected scams to the Indiana Attorney Generals Consumer Protection Division by visiting www.IndianaConsumer.com or by calling (800) 382-5516. People who have already fallen victim to this, or any other scam, can download an Identity Theft Victim Kit at the site.
