New Public Radio service comes to region

Northwest Indiana has a new offering on the FM dial. Chicago Public Radio, which offers news and information on WBEZ-FM 91.5, this week launched a new program service,, on WBEW-FM 89.5 in Chesterton.

Listeners will continue to hear Chicago Public Radio's coverage of the region, as well as national and international acquired programming, on WBEZ-FM 91.5. Additionally, Chicago Public Radio operates a news bureau in Chesterton. is a Web-to-broadcast service that relies on a community of online users to upload audio content. is a new format and will be operational in the fall, according to a press release.


VU named a top 100 IT organization

Valparaiso University has been selected by CIO magazine as one of the most innovative organizations in the country using information technology to create business value, according to a news release.

Valparaiso's Information Technology team and Chief Information Officer Dennis Trinkle are recognized in the magazine's 20th annual CIO 100 Awards. Valparaiso and other honorees will be featured in a special issue of CIO magazine to be published Aug. 15 and recognized at the CIO 100 Symposium and Awards Ceremony Aug. 19 to 21.


Quiznos opens new restaurant

A Quiznos sub and sandwich shop opened this week at 3378 Willowcreek Road, two blocks north of U.S. 6.

The 1,900-square-foot restaurant is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 8 p.m. Sundays. Quiznos operates more than 3,000 franchise locations in the U.S. and 15 foreign nations
