Many restaurants and businesses honor military service with freebies on Veterans Day, including free steak dinners. Veterans typically need to provide proof of service, such as a military ID card or a DD 214 form. Here's a partial rundown of the free meals and discounts being offered to veterans:

Who qualifies: Veterans receive a free haircut or a card that's redeemable for a free haircut by the end of the year; anyone who gets their hair cut that day also receives a card to give to a veteran that can be redeemed for a free haircut before Dec. 31.

When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday

Who qualifies: Veterans with valid military ID or discharge papers

When: Monday, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Denny's

Who qualifies: Veterans with valid military ID

When: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., or 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday

Who qualifies: Active-duty military or veterans

When: 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday

Who qualifies: All veterans and active-duty military
