The Center of Workforce Innovations announced it has been awarded an Innovation Fund Grant of $360,000 from the Indiana Department of Education for its ReadyNWI, or Regional Education/Employer Alliance for Developing Youth, program.

The grant funds will enable ReadyNWI to improve math skills for those moving into post-secondary education or various career training programs across industries where employers stress the need for science, technology, engineering and math skills, known as STEM skills.

School systems in Northwest Indiana that will be involved with this specific project are Crown Point, Gary, Lake Ridge, Merrillville, Lake Central, Munster, Highland, Tri-Creek, East Chicago, Hammond, MSD/Boone Grove, and Portage.

ReadyNWI is taking aggressive action to prepare students in kingergarten through 12th grade for high quality job opportunities that have been identified by regional employers.
