One path to business growth is international, through exports.

Companies that want to tap into overseas markets but do not know where to start can learn the ins and outs of exporting at the Northwest Indiana Small Business Development Center's Export University. The one-day exporting 101 workshop is aimed at businesses new to the exporting process and current exporters that are looking to expand their opportunities abroad.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Oddfellows Room at the Greater Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce, 162 W. Lincolnway. The cost is $65, or $50 for Valpo Chamber members.

Attendees can hear insights from experts from the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Small Business Administration, FedEx Services, Fifth Third Bank, Northwest ISBDC, Harrison & Moberly LLP, Indiana District Export Council and Foreign Targets Inc. They will discuss export procedures, international logistics, and the management of payment risk.

They also will discuss financing, SBA export programs, and legal considerations.

Morning refreshments and lunch are offered at the event. Registration and payment are required in advance.

To register, call (219) 644-3513 or visit www.nwisbdc.org, click on seminars and events, select "Northwest" and follow prompts.
