Valparaiso-based Frozen Garden is now distributing its smoothies across the Chicago area, including Northwest Indiana.

The company is selling its non-GMO ready-to-blend smoothies at more than 70 retailers in Chicago and the suburbs, including Angelo Caputo’s, Pete’s Fresh Market, Strack & Van Til, Sunset Foods, and Tony’s Fresh Markets.

Allyson Straka founded the company, which makes smoothies with 100 percent fruits, vegetables seeds and spices that are sourced from farms within 100 miles when available. They contain no added sugar or preservatives.

The flash frozen smoothies, which come in 12-ounce or 20-ounces pouches, can be quickly prepared by adding water after they're pulled from the freezer.

"No washing, peeling, chopping, rotting food in the fridge or looking for a recipe," Straka said in a news release. "Go from freezer to blender to glass in about a minute. Frozen Garden smoothies are available in seven artisan flavors including Berry Choco-Latte, Jungle Breeze and Napa-licious."

The company has grown rapidly since it was started in 2015. Earlier this year, Frozen Garden started distributing its smoothies at Strack & Van Tils across Northwest Indiana.
