Industrial repair and maintenance service company Kiemle-Hankins said Wednesday it is moving from its Gary location to a larger facility in Crown Point.
Kiemle-Hankins President Tim Martindale said in a news release the new location at 1011 E. Summit St. allows for an expansion of its power equipment service area and improvements to motor testing capabilities and the crane system.
"We have been growing in Northwest Indiana and Northeast Illinois and we need to make this move to keep up with customer demand," Martindale said in a statement. "We anticipate the move will go smoothly. At no point will there be a disruption to any customer project."
The new facility is expected to be fully operational by February and will retain the previous phone number of (219) 882-0705. Martindale said the project investment is more than $2 million.
Kiemle-Hankins employs 30 people in Gary and Martindale said the company will need to add more workers to keep up with expected growth in the business.
Founded in 1928, Kiemle-Hankins services substations, circuit breakers, motors, pumps and other rotating apparatuses. The company has five facilities in Ohio, Michigan and Indiana.
Kiemle-Hankins acquired the Gary location at 201 Mississippi St. in 2009, the news release said. It was renamed Kiemle-Hankins from Great Lakes Sales & Service in 2010.
