EAST CHICAGO | HealthLinc will begin accepting patients at its new location starting Monday.

The federally qualified health center at 1313 W. Chicago Ave., will replace the previous location at 100 W. Chicago Ave.

The new location will accommodate the growing number of people who need affordable primary medical and behavioral health care.

“The opening of the new East Chicago clinic would never have happened without the support that the citizens and city of East Chicago and the surrounding communities have shown to us,” HealthLinc CEO Beth Wrobel said in a statement. “We know that access to proper medical and behavioral health care is challenging for families struggling to find affordable care, and we are excited about the opportunity we were given in East Chicago to expand and help reduce that barrier.”

The clinic will be staffed by a team of health care professionals, including family practice physicians, obstetricians, nurses, licensed clinical social workers, nurse practitioners and support staff.

Services include primary and preventive medical and behavioral health services, gynecological services, health and wellness education, chronic disease management, women’s and men’s health services, wellness checks and immunizations.

The expansion was made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration.
