Helmets to Hardhats

After serving in the Army, Lowell resident David Brightwell Jr. knew he wanted to be an ironworker. After signing up for the Helmets to Hardhats program while serving in Afghanistan, Brightwell is now wrapping up his apprenticeship program at Iron Workers Local 395 in Portage and recently placed 12th out of about 12,000 at the Iron Workers National Apprentice Competition in Indianapolis.
