Ultra Foods will soon open its 16th location in Prospect Heights in Chicago’s northwest suburbs.
The grocery chain is opening a new 87,000-square-foot store at 1241 North Rand Road. The full-service supermarket is expected to employ about 300 workers.
“Ultra Foods is very excited to be opening a brand-new store in Prospect Heights,” said Dave Wilkinson, president of Highland-based Strack and Van Til, which owns Ultra. “I would like to thank Mayor (Nicholas) Helmer and his staff for making us feel welcome in the city.”
Ultra Foods now has 12 locations in Chicago and its Illinois suburbs. The chain also has four Northwest Indiana locations, which are located in Gary, Highland and Merrillville.
A unique feature at the new Prospect Heights supermarket is the Mezzanine Cafe, which includes a hot foods bar, a soup and salad bar, a wing bar and olive bar, and a selection of hot and cold beverages. Another is a full-service international deli that will carry both American and European specialties, including meats, cheeses, salads and prepared foods.
“Our newest stores provides grocery shoppers with the freshest way to save,” said Wilkinson. “Consumers will find the freshest produce, meat, deli, seafood, and bakery products available with the lowest overall prices … all under one roof.”
The store will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight daily.
