People can learn about how steel is made and how the region blossomed into one of the largest steelmaking areas in the world at the Indiana Dunes State Park on Sunday.

The Indiana Dunes State Park will host a program on the local steel industry at 3 p.m.

Park interpreters and guest speaker Tyler Botbyl from ArcelorMittal will talk about the steel production process and the history of the local steel industry. The presentation will include interactive portions for the entire family.

The program is free, but attendees must pay the standard gate fee of $5 per Indiana vehicle and $10 per out-of-state vehicle.
