Indiana University Northwest will host its 13th Annual Career Fair next month. The university is also planning skills workshops for job-seekers throughout March and April.
The job fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 11 in the Savannah Center Gymnasium. Attendees can meet with employers who are recruiting workers for full-time and part-time jobs, as well as internships. They will take applications, conduct interviews and furnish background information about their companies.
Positions and internships will be available in a wide array of career paths, including sales and marketing, engineering, finance and accounting, security, food service and hospitality.
Employers who will be on hand include the Boy Scouts of America, Defense Finance and Accounting Services, Direct Buy, First Savings Bank of Hegewisch, the Gary Community School Corp., Horseshoe Casino Hammond, Luke, Panda Express, Speedway, Staff Source USA, The Adventures Club and WCOE FM Radio of LaPorte.
Job-seekers should dress professionally and bring copies of their resume to distribute.
They can prepare for the career fair by attending a resume and cover letter writing 101 workshop, which will take place at 12 p.m. March 25 in Room 111 of Marram Hall and also at 5 p.m. Thursday in Room 105 of Raintree Hall.
A workshop on job fair etiquette is slated for 5 p.m. March 31 in Room 201 of Raintree Hall and at 12 p.m. April 2 in Room 151 of Raintree Hall. Anyone needing to brush up on what to say in a job interview can attend an interviewing skills made easy workshop at 12 p.m. April 15 in Room 145 of Raintree Hall and at 5 p.m. April 17 in Room 105 of Raintree Hall.
