A 10-year tax abatement request from Delphi Electronics & Safety has been approved by the Kokomo Common Council. It paves the way for the company to invest $160 million in its operations. Delphi is investing in new equipment and new products to position it for growth. The company expects to retain 3,000 jobs as a result of the investment.
Chrysler investment receives preliminary OK
The Kokomo Common Council is moving forward with a 10-year tax abatement request from Chrysler LLC. The company hopes to invest $68 million in new equipment for its Kokomo operations, a move that will allow the company to make a new engine. Final approval of the abatement request could occur after a public hearing on October 13.
Duke site chosen for 6,400 defense workers
The U.S. Army will relocate 6,400 employees to Indianapolis-based Duke Realty Corp.'s Mark Center in Alexandria, Va., by 2011. The center is a 350-acre mixed-use campus about four miles from the Pentagon. Duke owns, leases and manages office buildings totaling nearly 1.3 million square-feet, in addition to 16 acres of developable land -- where the Department of Defense will be putting workers as part of a base realignment.
Grant aims to keep Grads in Indiana
Lilly Endowment Inc. has awarded Indiana Tech a $375,000 grant for current initiatives and to establish a new program to retain graduates in the state of Indiana. The Career Leadership Institute is a collaboration among the university's Career Planning and Development Center, local businesses, schools and community organizations. Indiana Tech will contribute more than $400,000 toward the program.
Parkview Breaks Ground on $536 Million Hospital Expansion
Parkview Health broke ground today on a $536 million hospital expansion in Fort Wayne. Parkview Regional Medical Center's 900,000 square-foot facility will include more than 400 beds, a new heart center and specialty centers for neurosciences, orthopaedics and cancer. Construction is expected to be complete in December 2011.
