State officials say they have broken the state's previous job commitment record set one year ago, with more than 150 companies committing this year to create more than 22,600 new jobs. Gov. Mitch Daniels also says the average state incentive provided to companies per job decreased by more than 20 percent.
Software developer plans to create jobs
LHP Inc. in Columbus says it plans to create more than 320 high-tech jobs by 2011. The software developer will invest more than $1 million to expand its southeast Indiana headquarters and development center. The company is an international developer of software and hardware solutions for the military, automotive and medical industries.
OFS Brands plans 300 new position
OFS Brands Holdings Inc. says it will expand the company's national headquarters in Huntingburg and create more than 300 new jobs by 2012. The office furniture company will invest more than $81 million to add new production facilities, veneer operations, UV coating systems and office space to its southern Indiana facilities.
Indiana Lab company experiences growth
Indianapolis-based AIT Laboratories says it has experienced 80 percent growth in revenues and 170 percent growth in net profits this year. This is the company's third consecutive year of growth. The company has also added 60 employees in 2007 and plans call for additional staff members to be added in the coming year.
Indy 500 will have 2 pace cars
The 2008 Indianapolis 500 will have two Official Pace Cars. One of them will be a Corvette Z06 E85 concept car that runs on E85 ethanol fuel. The other car is a black and silver commemorative edition that marks the 30th anniversary of the first Corvette to pace the field at the Indy 500.
Hoosiers apply for insurance program
Nearly 4,500 Hoosiers have submitted applications for the new Healthy Indiana Plan in its first week. Gov. Mitch Daniels says the state has funding to cover about 130,000 Hoosiers each year who do not have health insurance and are not eligible for Medicaid.
