The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority says next week's Tech Summit in Hammond will focus on technology available to businesses of all sizes. Organizers say the event will also include presentations on social media use and search engine optimization. The summit will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Indiana Welcome Center, 7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond. Cost is $25 and includes a box lunch and continental breakfast. Plan Aims to Bolster 'Vital' Industry

The chair of the Indiana Automotive Council says a new three-year strategic plan will help keep the state on the leading edge of auto manufacturing. Tom Easterday, who is also executive vice president of Lafayette-based Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., says the industry-led initiative calls for more work force training programs and innovation centers that would build on existing college, university and high school relationships. Easterday believes the plan will benefit other manufacturers and create jobs.


Colorado Company Acquires Furniture Manufacturer

West Lafayette-based Chromcraft Revington Inc. has been sold to a Colorado company in a nearly $3.5 million deal. Sport-Haley Holdings Inc. Chief Executive Officer Samuel Kidston believes the transaction will increase access to capital.


Notre Dame Reports 'Extraordinary' Endowment Growth

The University of Notre Dame is reporting a growing endowment. Chief Investment Officer Scott Malpass says it increased to $8.3 billion at the end of June, compared to $7.4 billion a year earlier.


Indy Eleven to Partner With Honda

Indy Eleven Professional Soccer has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with Honda Manufacturing of Indiana LLC and Central Indiana Honda Dealers. The agreement means Honda's name will appear on the front of the team's uniforms.


TEDx Event Set For Rose-Hulman

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology students have organized a TEDx event Saturday in Terre Haute. Featured speakers will focus on photography, fragrance making and "real world" mathematics.


FedEx Marks Milestone at Indy Airport

The FedEx Express Hub is marking 25 years at Indianapolis International Airport. The company says it handles more than one million tons of cargo each year at the facility.


FFA Touts Membership Record

The National FFA Organization has announced an "explosion" in membership. It says nearly 580,000 students participated during the 2012-2013 school year, an increase of more than 22,000, compared to the prior year.


ISU to Hold Health Care Reform Forum in Indy

Indiana State University's Scott College of Business will host a forum this month in Indianapolis on the "seismic effects" of the Affordable Care Act. The Networks Financial Institute event will feature industry and policy experts, including the architect of Massachusetts' health care reform law.


Governor Names Vincennes University Trustees

Governor Mike Pence has announced appointees to the Vincennes University Board of Trustees. Both earned associates degrees from the school and join Telamon Corp.'s Reginald Henderson, who was re-appointed.


Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Lands Federal Grant

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College has received a nearly $2 million federal grant. The funding from the U.S. Department of Education will support a project designed to increase academic quality, boost enrollment and improve institutional efficiency.


Youth Institute Appoints Advancement VP

The Indiana Youth Institute has named Glenn Augustine to the newly-created position of vice president for advancement. He has been serving as the organization's vice president for marketing and communications.
