SCHERERVILLE | An assistant professor from Indiana University Northwest in Gary will be the presenter at the upcoming Lake County Advancement Committee meeting.

Joseph Ferrandino will speak on the topic "Integration of Public Safety Data and GIS Mapping with Business and Economic Development."

Ferrandino researches the efficiency of criminal justice systems, crime policy and the intersection of criminal justice with the new school of public administration.

He works closely with several local police departments, mapping crime and calls, analyzing trends, assisting in resource allocation, writing grants and more.  

The LCAC luncheon will take place at noon Sept. 13 at Teibel's Restaurant, 1775 U.S. 41. For reservations, e-mail Caitlin Mills-Groninger at cmillsgroninger@ccsj.edu or call (219) 473-4325 by Sept. 9.

The public is welcome. The cost for the luncheon is $20 and will be collected at the door. Only cash and checks will be accepted.
