La Porte Hospital accredited in MRI administration
LA PORTE | Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital recently was awarded the Gold Seal of Accreditation in magnetic resonance imaging after a review conducted by the American College of Radiology, an organization dedicated to the premium practice of medical imaging.
The MRI, a noninvasive medical test that utilizes magnetic fields to produce images of internal body parts, plays a vital role in helping doctors diagnose and treat medical conditions.
"We are very proud to receive this Gold Seal of Accreditation from the ACR in MRI," said Dennis Gumbert, Ph D, director of diagnostic imaging and women's imaging. "Our MRI unit is one of the most technologically advanced and sophisticated MRIs in the area. This is extremely important to both our referring physicians and patients, assuring that our staff is highly qualified and that the image quality is of the highest level for diagnostic interpretation."
The three-year accreditation exemplifies the highest level of image quality and patient safety, according to the hospital press release. Board-certified physicians and expert medical physicists evaluate the facility to ensure it meets ACR practice guidelines and technical standards.
The ACR, a national professional organization, serves more than 34,000 radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists. ACR programs focus on medical imaging, radiation oncology and the delivering advanced comprehensive health services. The ACR Gold Seal of Accreditation marks IU Health La Porte Hospital as superior in quality and safety, according to the hospital.
Indiana University Health La Porte Hospital, a part of Indiana University Health, has provided care to La Porte and the surrounding community for more than 100 years.
