Jim Robinson said the employment growth in the nation – albeit slow – is a good sign for all workers.

The nation's unemployment rate fell to 7.8 percent last month, which was the first time the percentage dipped below 8 percent since January 2009. Although it took a slight dip from August, manufacturing employment in September is up 1.4 percent from a year ago to more than 11.9 million, which Robinson said also is important for the economy.

"I'm encouraged that manufacturing overall seems to be improving," Robinson said.

He said it's also a good sign that people in the working class are becoming more engaged and aware that the way to improve their standard of living is through organizing.

"There's just a point of which where people realize if they don't stand up and fight back, no one is going to do it for them."
