For the fifth year, Northwest Indiana Chevrolet dealers and The Times Media Co. are teaming up to give away a brand new car to a lucky winner in their 2013 Chevy Malibu Sweepstakes.
"This is a great opportunity for all our dealers to work together and provide an exciting contest for the residents of Northwest Indiana," said Tim Roper, president of Smith Auto Group. "And this car is equal to the best that's out there."
Better gas mileage, all-new technology and a complete redesign make the 2013 Malibu a star of Chevrolet's 13 redesigned brands for 2013, Roper said. Chevrolet is hoping to build on its lead as the top-selling brand in Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana in each of the past two years, he said.
This year's contest also has an added bonus, with eight pairs of Blackhawks regular season tickets going to eight lucky winners.
"It's a great partnership between us and Chevrolet and the local dealers," said Times Advertising Director Lisa Daugherty. "There is always a lot of public interest in the sweepstakes and it drives a lot of engagement with customers."
Daugherty points out the Northwest Indiana promotion outpaces even those by Chevrolet dealers in larger metro areas, with more than 23,000 people entering to win a Chevrolet Cruze in last year's sweepstakes.
Participating Chevrolet dealers are Arnell Chevrolet, Burns Harbor; Christenson Chevrolet, Highland; Harbor Chevrolet, Michigan City; Smith Chevrolet, Hammond and Lowell; Mike Anderson Chevrolet, Merrillville; Team Chevrolet, Valparaiso; and Wiers Chevrolet, DeMotte.
Today is the first day to enter. The deadline for entries is 5 p.m. April 27. The big drawing is May 1, when a winner will be announced.
Last year, Ruby Waterstraat, of St. John, was the lucky sweepstakes winner of a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze. The year before the prize was also a Cruze, with Malibus given away in the two sweepstakes previous to that.
People wanting to get in on the action this year can enter the Malibu Sweepstakes in three ways. They can register at www.nwi.com/malibu; or clip out and fill out an official entry form and take it to a participating Chevrolet dealership or a Times office; or simply text "Malibu" to 411247.
For the Blackhawk tickets, entrants must hand in an entry form at a participating Chevrolet dealer.
