GARY | U.S. Steel and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency are conducting an open house Thursday afternoon on hazardous waste storage and disposal at the Gary Works site.
The Community Involvement Team Effort (CITE) open house will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Anderson Library Conference Center, Room LC 105 at Indiana University Northwest, 3400 Broadway Ave. in Gary.
The meeting will focus on U.S. Steel's Gary Works' Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Corrective Action Program. RCRA allows the U.S. EPA to manage the storage and disposal of hazardous waste.
Parking on campus is limited and all vehicles must display an IUN parking tag. Guests may take the complimentary Redhawk shuttle bus to campus from the Arts on Grant location at W. 37th Avenue and Grant Street and obtain a guest shuttle past from the security guard inside the building.
Local citizens and other interested parties will have access to representatives from U.S. Steel and the U.S. EPA to discuss the project at the open house.
