New Buffalo Savings Bank is expanding beyond it current Southwest Michigan footprint into the Northwest Indiana market. The bank plans to open a new commercial and residential loan office at 8000 Utah Street in Hobart.
"We are excited about establishing roots in Northwest Indiana," president and CEO Dick Sauerman said. "The expansion represents a new facet of the long-term commitment we have made to the region."

New Buffalo Savings Bank tapped longtime Northwest Indiana bankers Jim Katona and Fred Triezenberg to manage the new Hobart office, which will offer mortgages and commercial loans.
Katona, a Schererville resident with 17 years of banking experience, will oversee the commercial side as vice president of commercial banking.
"I truly believe that, as bankers, we are partners with the business people we serve," he said. "Our mission is to help them grow their businesses and reach their financial dreams."
Triezenberg, a Crown Point resident who has worked in residential mortgage lending for more than 20 years, will be the office's mortgage loan originator.
"I first got involved in mortgage lending in 1983," he said. "I tried a few other careers since then, but real estate lending has always called me back."
