The corporation that owns Gary's two casino vessels and associated hotel is getting a new leader.

The Majestic Star Casino LLC has named Peter Liguori as CEO and president of its parent company, Majestic Holdco LLC. Liguori also will serve as a member of the company's board of managers. The move is effective March 8.

Liguori has more than 30 years of gaming industry experience including opportunities in executive-level positions at land-based, riverboat and American Indian casinos in the U.S., Canada, Greece, Spain and South America, a company statement states. He recently served as president of Chicago-based HGMI Gaming, which was formerly Hyatt Gaming Management.

Michael Darley, the company's executive vice president and chief operating officer, has served as the principal executive officer since founder Don Barden died in May, according to a company filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Majestic Star also continues to own a casino and hotel in Mississippi and a casino in Colorado.
