MUNSTER | Northwest Indiana Bancorp, the holding company for Peoples Bank, has a new board member.
The board elected certified public accountant and attorney Danette Garza to fill a vacancy. Garza works with Austgen, Kuiper & Associates and specializes in corporate, estate planning and elder law. She owns Highland-based Continental Languages LLC, which offers language interpreting services in more than 120 languages to people with limited proficiency in English.
"Ms. Garza is a successful entrepreneur with an innovative business outlook and diverse experience in various dimensions of business and financial services," said David A. Bochnowski, chairman and chief executive officer of Peoples Bank.
Garza has formerly served as chief operating officer and corporate counsel for a multispecialty group medical practice. She chairs the Legacy Foundation's investment committee and is a South Shore Arts League board member.
Her term ends in April 2014.
