SCHERERVILLE | A medical outpatient center planned to open in June is expected to create about 25 permanent jobs.
Officials from Community Hospital announced Tuesday it will open the 11,400-square-foot Community Hospital Outpatient Center Schererville on the northeast corner of U.S. 30 and Harvest Drive.
The building strip previously was occupied by an office furniture design center and construction contractor, Schererville Town Manager Bob Volkmann said.
The medical facility will serve as an immediate care center and will offer family medicine and lab and outpatient diagnostic services, including MRI and CT imaging, according to a statement.
“The Schererville Outpatient Center will be another link to the quality care offered through Community Hospital,” CEO Donald Fesko said. “Because of its convenient location, this center will enable the hospital to better serve southern Lake County and continue to build healthier communities.”
The Community Hospital operates other outpatient centers in Munster and St. John and has other medical offices in Lake County. The Community Hospital in Munster is undergoing a two year, $33 million expansion.
At the new Schererville center, specialists in family practice and internal medicine will provide immediate care from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. on weekdays and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays for patients who have non-life threatening illness or injury.
Also, Community Care Network Family Medicine physicians will see patients through scheduled appointments for acute and chronic conditions, injuries and preventive services, according to health system officials.
