INDIANAPOLIS | Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann has tapped a Portage native to spread the word to Hoosier companies about state resources available to small businesses.

Erik Scheub began working Wednesday as public relations director and small business ombudsman in Ellspermann's Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship.

The University of Southern Indiana graduate is tasked with meeting small business leaders, listening to their problems and explaining ways the state can assist them.

"By adding this ombudsman, our Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship will enhance its service to and communication with this vital segment of our economy, ensuring Indiana continues to be 'the state that works' for entrepreneurs," Ellspermann said.
