Jane Bushong has joined the Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau as a Sales Executive in the SMERF (Social, Military, Educational, Religious and Fraternal) markets.

Gale Gillis Carter, of East Chicago Central High School, will be on the first advisory group for Insights on Law and Society, a publication for teachers created by the American Bar Association.

Century 21 Real Estate has recognized Shawn Finigan, Dawn Collins and Judy Fischer of Century 21 Executive Realty in Valparaiso with the Quality Service Producer Award. Claudia Miller was honored with the Quality Service Pinnacle Producer Award and the emerald-level Masters Award. Fischer and Collins also earned the Centurion Producer Award.

Tastefully Simple consultant Angie Keaveney, of Crown Point, received the Top 10 Sales Achievers and Top 10 Sponsors awards from the company. Consultant Gina Davitt, of Dyer, received the Top 10 Sponsors award.

William Maar, wealth adviser, Doug Watkins, wealth advisor and Jason Carter, financial representative with Greater Valparaiso Group of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, have qualified for the Summit Circle conference by providing financial guidance and solutions to members of the organization in 2012.

Highland Clerk-Treasurer Michael Griffin was presented with an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for preparing an award-winning comprehensive annual financial report.

Valparaiso-based Century 21 Alliance Group agent Natalie Worstell was honored with the ruby level Masters Award. The Jeanne Sommer Team of Jeanne Sommer, Julie Johnson, Michelle Sparks, Pam Kandalec and Jodie Peller was recognized with a Double Centurion Team Award. The Jeanne Sommer Team also was honored with the Quality Service Pinnacle Team Award and the President's Team Award. Agent Denise O'Connor was awarded with a Quality Service Pinnacle Producer Award. Agents Bryan Bennett, Joseph Pagan, Lisa Moore, Mary Ann Alberson and Steve Hoard were presented with a Quality Service Producer Award.

Shanieta Bouyer of Western-Southern Life in Valparaiso has been selected to join the Gary Chamber of Commerce. Paul R. Diamond has qualified for the President Council Award.

The National Association of Workforce Boards hosted their annual conference on March 10-12th in Washington, DC.

Bob Schaefer, president of Corporate Dynamics in La Porte County and Northwest Indiana Workforce Board member and past-chair, was a panelist in a National Association of Workforce Board annual conference session, "Advocacy on the Hill and at Home." Linda Woloshansky, President of the Center of Workforce Innovations and staff to the NWIWB, addressed the lack of work readiness among high school students in a session, "Bridging the Skills Gap and Engaging Employers."
