Prompt buys ambulance business to expand service area
HIGHLAND | Prompt Ambulance Service has acquired Keeney Ambulance and Transports Service, which has Indiana operations in Rensselaer, Lafayette and Frankfort.
As a subsidiary of Prompt, KATS will begin operating under the Prompt Ambulance Central beginning Feb. 28, a news release states.
Prompt plans to retain the existing management structure and the more than 70 employees at KATS. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Once the family made the decision to sell, we approached Prompt because of their reputation of taking good care of their employees and patients," KATS co-owner Rick Keeney said. "We wanted to leave the business in good hands."
The acquisition expands Prompt's service area, which currently extends from Lake County to South Bend.
