HAMMOND | Purdue University Calumet’s Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation will host a day of Celebrating Innovation on Thursday.
Activities will take place at the center, located in the Powers Computer Education Building near the north end of campus.
The celebration kicks off at 8:30 a.m. with officials from the Society of Innovators of Northwest Indiana presenting the 2012-13 Chanute Prize for Team Innovation to CIVS faculty, staff, administrators and students.
Following the Chanute Prize presentation, Celebrating Innovation will include a showcase of Purdue Calumet student research projects between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. and again from noon to 4 p.m.
From noon to 1 p.m., Purdue Calumet’s Office of Research and Graduate Studies will make a presentation about the university’s new Master of Science degree in Modeling, Simulation and Visualization, to be introduced during the upcoming spring semester.
The CIVS is an applied research center that combines 3D modeling, simulation and visualization technologies for innovative virtual design and virtual learning/training in response to real world problems.
