The Third Annual Leaders as Heroes 2014 South Shore Leadership Awards are accepting nominations for this year’s awards through Feb. 21. These awards are presented by the South Shore Leadership Center, home of the Leadership Northwest Indiana Program.

Ideal nominees have made an impact on a community, most likely on a regional level, with notable results. These are individuals who are creating a huge impact, but who have received little recognition for their leadership efforts.

Nominations will be accepted at

“It's truly hard to find words to summarize my experience as an honoree and finalist," said Rondi Wightman, adjunct professor at Indiana University Northwest and a 2013 award recipient. "While none of us become involved in our communities to gain recognition, it is deeply rewarding to know that your efforts made on behalf of your community or region are appreciated.”

This year's Leaders as Heroes awards banquet is scheduled for April 25. Sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information, visit or call (219) 465-6818.
