GARY | Ivy Tech Community College Northwest and The Society of Innovators announced the 2012-13 Class of Fellows, Chanute Prize recipients and Members to be inducted at the eighth annual Innovators Induction Ceremony tonight at the Horseshoe Casino in Hammond.
At the induction ceremony, the region’s Gerald I. Lamkin Fellow for Innovation and Service will also be announced.
“The 8th Innovators Induction Ceremony will induct some of the most innovative ‘thinkers, dreamers and doers’ across Northwest Indiana.” said Chancellor J. Guadalupe Valtierra said Chancellor J. Guadalupe Valtierra.
Inductees represent Jasper, Lake, LaPorte, Newton, Porter, Pulaski, and Starke counties. In addition to three individual and team members inducted previously, 12 new individual members and 15 new team members will be honored.
Six new Fellows include Neal H. Haskell, St. Joseph’s College, Rensselaer; Gus Olympidis, Family Express; Olga Petryszyn, Re-MAX Affiliates, Valparaiso; Pearl Prince, Frankie Woods McCullough Girls Academy, Gary; Eugene S. Smotkin, NuVant, Crown Point; and Gregg A. VanDusseldorp Sr., Omnitech Systems Inc., Valparaiso.
This year, there are two co-recipients for the Chanute Prize for Team Innovation. One is The Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation at Purdue University Calumet, represented by Chenn Q. Zhou, director of the Center. The other is the “S-in motion” Project of ArcelorMittal Global Research & Development Center in East Chicago, represented by Blake K. Zuidema, director of Automotive Product Applications.
The Following individuals are also being inducted as members into The Society of Innovators: Speros Batistatos, Marc Chase, Raymundo A. Garcia, Neal H. Haskell, Kassie Meeks, Olga Petryszyn; Pearl Prince, Dave Ryan, Eugene S. Smotkin, Anthony Thurman, Gregg A. VanDusseldorp Sr. and Harry J. Vande Velde III.
The following teams are also being inducted as members into The Society of Innovators: Alternative Energy Demonstration Team, Porter County Career and Tech Center; Franciscan Alliance Physician Team; Green Farms Agronomics & Mycology Team; Hospice Artisans, Hospice of the Calumet Area Team; INTAC 697 Team; Lake Hills STEM Magnet School Team, Michigan City; Michigan City Robotics #3936 Team; Multi-Specialty Navigation Surgery Suite, Methodist Hospitals Team; NIPSCO “IN-Charge” Electric Vehicle Team; NIPSCO Mobile Website Team; Park Prescriptions Program of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore Team; Portage Township Schools Critical Values Design Team; “Rural and Rustic” Tourism Team; South Shore Arts/Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra Team; and Omnitech Systems Team, Valparaiso.
