The Carson's department stores at Southlake Mall in Hobart and at the former Woodmar Mall in Hammond have added mEYEwear Optical shops that carry more than 300 designer prescription eyeglass frames.

“Carson’s is pleased to deliver this new merchandise category to our customers,” said Bill Tracy, president and CEO of The Bon-Ton Stores. “The new mEYEwear Optical shops offer convenience as well as affordable style in eyewear.”

The 150-square-foot in-store shops in the Carson's department stores will employ opticians and stylists who will help customers find sunglasses or frames, which start at $95 with higher charges for progressive or bi-focal lenses. Second pairs are 50 percent off every day.

VVOptique, LLC will operate the in-store shops, which will carry designer brands like Elite Model Agency from Italy.

“We view prescription eyewear as a fashion necessity that is often worn more than 12 hours a day," VVOptique CEO Tony Fuller said. "Our extensive collection and affordable price point, will encourage customers to build an eyewear wardrobe that compliments their fashion style."

Bon-Ton has added the optical shops at 24 of its department stores, and plans to roll them out in 36 more locations.
