Staffing firms to host local job fairs

Two local staffing firms are recruiting candidates for positions with different firms in the next few weeks.

Staff Source is hosting two job fairs in Portage to field general laborer candidates for a Porter County industrial printing company.

The first job fair is from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at WorkOne in Portage, 1575 Adler Circle, Suite A. The second job fair is from 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 2 at Woodland Park's Sycamore Hall, 2100 Willowcreek Road. Those who attend are asked to bring an updated resume and a valid photo identification card. The pay for the position is $8 an hour.

Davis Staffing is hosting job fairs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 2 and Feb. 9 at the Hammond Civic Center, 5825 S. Sohl Ave. Davis Staffing is fielding candidates for production, assembly and material handling positions with local automotive industry suppliers.

The firm said that candidates have to be willing to work long hours and weekends. Qualified candidates have to have a minimum of six months of manufacturing experience. Attendees must bring a current resume, high school diploma or GED certificate and valid state photo ID card, and be willing to submit to a criminal background check and drug screening.
