Iron ore arrives at Gary Works

A shipment of iron ore has made its way across the ice-choked Great Lakes to the Gary Works steel mill, where production will resume, although to a limited extent.

Lake County suffers state's largest population decline

In terms of demographic trends, Northwest Indiana is a tale of two counties. Lake County had the biggest population decline out of Indiana's 92 counties in 2013, losing 1,662 residents, according to U.S. Census Bureau figures analyzed by the Indiana Business Research Center at Indiana University's Kelley School of Business.

New Times digital advertising director to lead region to 'next stratosphere'

The Times Media Co. has named Joe Battistoni as new digital advertising director. Battistoni, who started Tuesday, was attracted to The Times because of the exponential digital growth year over year. Battistoni wants to make the user experience on the best it can be and provide advertisers with digital solutions that work, educating them on products to take their business to the next level, he said.
