The Times Media Co. is calling for nominations for the 2013 Class of the BusINess and Industry Hall of Fame.

The Business and Industry Hall of Fame, sponsored by The Times of Northwest Indiana and BusINess Magazine, is an annual awards program to honor those who have made a substantial contribution to business and industry across the region.

Nominees have not only had exceptional business success but have shown a lifetime commitment to the region and its communities. They have also played key roles in leading, developing and positioning the region for the future.

"This is one of my most favorite events of the year," said Times Media Co. Publisher Bill Masterson Jr. "I learn so much about the tremendous work individuals have done to make this such a great place to live and work. I’m excited to learn more about some great people during this process."

Nominations will be accepted until Jan. 1. The class of 2013 will be announced in early March in The Times, BusINess Magazine and www.nwi.com.

Nominations can be made online at www.nwi.com/halloffame or by mail to Kathleen Dorsey, The Times, 601 W. 45th Ave., Munster, IN 46321.

All nominations must include the nominee's name, business and contact information, and a brief career summary. In addition, nominations should describe how the nominee meets one or more of the following criteria:

  • Demonstrated leadership and/or success in their field of interest or occupation
  • Contributed to their field of interest, occupation or community through innovation
  • Shown a personal commitment to community service
  • Serveda as a mentor in business or community activities
  • Shared their personal or corporate wealth supporting philanthropic causes
  • Supported environmental stewardship
  • Supported educational programs and/or institutions
  • Demonstrated they are visionary in their outlook about Northwest Indiana

The 2012 Hall of Fame class featured Milford Christenson, president of Christenson Chevrolet in Highland; Wil Davis, owner/operator of the Gary Jet Center; Tom Gryzbek, president of Franciscan St. Margaret Health in Hammond and Dyer; Steve Pangere, president and CEO of The Pangere Corp. and Culver Roofing Inc., both in Gary; and Linda Woloshansky, president and CEO of The Center of Workforce Innovations in Valparaiso.
