The Times Media Co. recently won top prizes in the 2012 Hoosier State Press Association Foundation Advertising Contest, including a first place for its creative work on the "Care & Share Food Drive" that fed thousands of school-age children.
The first place award in the ROP Series or Campaign category for the food drive was gratifying because The Times was a co-sponsor of the event along with the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, said Times Creative Services Manager Ami Reese.
The Times Media Co. also was recognized with a first place in the Niche Product on the Web category for Get Healthy Online, its publication all about health care in the region.
The awards were announced at the HSPA's annual Advertising Conference and Awards Gala on Sept. 28 at the Indianapolis Marriott North.
The idea for the food drive was initiated by Lisa Daugherty, who is Times Media Co. advertising director as well as a member of the board at the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, Reese said.
"I think the judges appreciated the human aspect of it, because it is an effort that gives back," Reese said.
Reese was recognized on the award along with Times advertising designer Ryan Berry and Times ad copywriter Mike Rigg.
Recognized for their work on Get Healthy Online were Times Niche Publications Associate Publisher Pat Colander, advertising design team leader James Pellegrini and Reese.
The Times Media Co. also won a second place in that category for Shore Magazine Online. Recognized for their work on that publication were Colander, Pellegrini and Reese.
The Times also won a second place in the ROP or Series Campaign category for its "Win a Chevy Cruze Sweepstakes." Recognized for their work on that project were Pellegrini, ad designer Jeff Fogg and Reese.
