SCHERERVILLE | Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park, creator of the world’s first all-trampoline walled playing court, is coming to Schererville.

The 26,000-square-foot facility, located at 1000 U.S. 41 inside the former Menards building, will open Tuesday. Sky Zone features an expansive open jump court, three ultimate dodgeball courts, a SkySlam basketball court, SkyRobics and a foam zone.

Sky Zone spokeswoman Laura von Merveldt said the company chose Schererville because it felt the area would be idea for an indoor trampoline park and something to benefit the community.

“Based on the initial outreach we’ve done, people are pretty excited for it so we’re really excited to meet all our new jumpers,” she said.

One of Sky Zone’s mottos is “if you could walk, you could jump” and Merveldt said the facility is popular for people of all ages.

“We have toddler time, open jumps and corporate events,” she said.

Sky Zone president Jeff Platt said since its inception in 2004, Sky Zone continues to "entertain, excite and evolve family entertainment while infusing active fun into a healthy lifestyle.”

“As we look to expand in Schererville, we are pleased to offer residents a new twist on recreational activities,” he said. “Our goal is to have fans in every city, nationwide, jumping for joy.”

Vice president of operations Neal Prewitt said Sky Zone promotes fun, dynamic and health-minded programs safely enjoyed for all ages.

“Our team members will provide our guests with an exhilarating experience,” he said. “In addition, we look forward to working with charities and youth groups and building strong relationships with the community.”

The franchise has been awarded various accolades, including being ranked 180 on the 2013 Inc’s 500/5000 List; “Best Gym Alterative” by Vegas Seven Magazine; “2012 Locals Choice for Kid’s Birthday Party” by Southbay Magazine; and one of Entrepreneur’s 2013 “Fresh concepts Livening Up Franchising.”
