The United Steelworkers Young Workers Movement of District 7 will end its second annual Black Labor Week celebration with a Feb. 22 program called "Celebration of Civil Rights."

The program will be at McBride Hall, 1301 Texas St., in Gary from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Fred Redmond, USW international vice president of civil and human rights, will be the event's keynote speaker and will reflect on the impact the Civil Rights Movement had in labor history. USW District 7 Director Jim Robinson and Civil Rights Coordinator Ray Jackson and USW International New Media Director Connie Mabin are also expected to speak at the event.

To reserve a spot for the program, reach Ephrin Jenkins, chair of Next Generation at USW Local 1014, by sending an email to nirhpe77@yahoo.com by Feb. 15 or call (219) 455-1306.

On Feb. 19, workers will visit area schools to discuss black labor history with students.

On Feb. 20, McBride Hall will host a Black Women Empowerment Seminar from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On Feb. 21, workers will conduct community service projects around the area.
