Members of the Van Senus family have sold auto parts stores in Hammond and Highland to a Michigan-based company that owns and operates stores and distribution centers, according to a news release.
Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Auto-Wares Inc. bought the stores for an undisclosed amount from Fred, Don and Scott Van Senus.
The family's two retail stores at 6920 Kennedy Ave. in Hammond and 2930 Highway Ave. in Highland are expected to retain the Van Senus name. Fred Van Senus Sr. opened the Hammond store in 1944 and the Highland store opened in 1963.
The family will still own and operate VSI, a distribution center for performance and accessory parts in Hammond with more than 70 employees.
Employees are expected to retain their jobs following the transaction's closing later this month.
Auto-Wares owns more than 150 retail stores and several distribution centers in the Great Lakes region. Auto-Wares also owns parts stores in East Chicago, Lake Station, Michigan City, Demotte and Knox.
