Merrillville-based White Lodging Services, hotel developer and operator, broke ground on two facilities this week, adding to more than 132 locations in 17 states.

The 145-room Courtyard by Marriott in Austin, Texas, is slated for a late 2009 opening. Located in Chandler, Ariz., the Courtyard by Marriott and Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, the company's fourth dual-branded hotel property, are slated for a late-2009 opening, according to a press release.

White Lodging, Austin's largest hotel owner and operator with 16 locations in that market, recently noted the addition of its 135th hotel and has a plan to add 100 properties -- including seven in the Austin area -- to its portfolio during the next five years, estimating the addition of $1.5 billion in managed sales, the release said.

"The Chandler and Austin markets continue to experience strong economic and employment growth, with several major commercial developments coming on line over the next 24 months," said Deno Yiankes, president & CEO of White Lodging" Investments and Development division.

White Lodging, which has received accolades in hotel development and operations -- from being named one of Training Magazine's Top 125 National training companies in 2008 to having received multiple AAA 4-Star Diamond Awards -- has received 12 Marriott International Partnership Circle Awards since its inception, at the hands of owner Dean White, in 1985.
