MERRILLVILLE | Merrillville-based White Lodging is investigating a reported breach of customer information.
Brian Krebs first reported the alleged breach on his blog, Krebs on Security, on Friday. Krebs, citing banking industry sources, alleged the breach exposed credit and debit card information of thousands of guests in 2013.
"An investigation is in progress, and we will provide meaningful information as soon as it becomes available," Kathleen Quilligan, spokeswoman for White Lodging, said in a statement issued Saturday.
Quilligan declined to comment further.
Krebs alleges the breaches took place at some White-managed Marriott hotels, including in Chicago. Marriott International issued a statement Saturday, saying White Lodging "experienced unusual fraud patterns in connection with its systems that process credit card transactions."
Marriott went on to say White Lodging is "in close contact with the banks and credit card companies."
White Lodging manages 168 hotels in 21 states, including the Radisson Hotel and Star Plaza Theater in Merrillville.
